12 Steps on How To Keep The Relationship Alive

3:20 PM by Lilian · 5 comments

Do you feel your relationship is not what it used to be? The initial magic and the same spirit is lacking or gone? Start re-evaluating your relationship before its too late. Here are the 12 steps below i gathered to help me and you keeping our relationship alive and kicking.

1. Have a date night- Married or not you both have lives outside of the relationship and making one day a week all about you and your sweetie will make it even more special. As they say, "absences makes the heart grow fonder" A bonus will also be how much fun you have with one another.

2. Write a love letter- let your girlfriend or boyfriend know how much you love them. It does not have to 4 pages long and it can even be a poem. Just let them know once in a while that they are someone truly special in your life.

3. Good sex- Sex is not important especially if you are just starting out but it does help. Being in touch with one another's feelings in the bedroom can go a long way. Use scented candles or soothing music to get the mood started. When you are having sex don't make it about yourself getting satisfied but about the both of you getting an orgasm.

4. Fight-Yes that's right have an argument. I believe nothing is more boring than a couple who says they never fight. That is just an out right lie. Every couple argues and there is no shame in it. It only becomes unhealthy when names called and fists are being thrown. Those things are never acceptable. Fights help you find out how the other feels about certain topics like family and boundaries.

5. Respect- Without respect there is no relationship. Everyone no mater who they are or what they have done deserves respect. To be treated as an equal and nothing less.

6. Have common interest- this is not a major thing but it does help in a relationship to have something that both of you are interested in like, biking and writing. To also have a common interest in making the relationship last.

7. Open Communication- it is almost like fighting but different. Communication needs to be an everyday occurrence for the relationship to last. You both need to know how the other one is feeling and what is going on in the relationship. To keep the other informed that you are indeed happy and that there is no reason for them to fear that you will stray.

8. Loyalty and Faithfulness-I do not care what any one says this is needed for a relationship to work. Everyone deserves to have someone who is there for them and only them. It's only moral and in today's world the healthy thing to do. I have heard the arguments that animals have more than one partner but last time I checked I walked on two legs and not four. I don't have a feathers and wings. I do talk coherently with words and sentences. A relationship that is meant to be will be easy for you to stay faithful and no need to go to another person. Put your heart and soul into the relationship if by chance it doesn't work, you can't say you didn't try.

9. Know when to forgive- that hey may come a time that you will have to decide when to forgive. If by chance your love one does go to another, you need to re-evaluate what you cared most about them. Or maybe they talked to an ex more times than necessary. You have to decide can you forgive and move on or do you have to let them go. If you do decide to forgive as hard as it may be you have to keep it in the past. Let them show you that they are truly sorry.

10. Call each other- If you are just starting out or you have been dating awhile call the other one to find out how they day went. This shows that you are interested in what happens to them when you are away. It also shows how much you missed being with them and hearing their voice. You maybe surprised at how long the conversation last just by saying I miss you or how you doing today?

11. Take it slow- Don't rush into anything you might regret later. Take the time to know each other. Let it flow naturally just by taking it one day at a time. Especially with sex, take your time before going to bed with the person; it just might save a whole lot of drama that the relationship is not ready to handle.

12. Last but not least TRUST! - Without trust there is no relationship. Do not assume the worst of your partner. Let the relationship take its course. Only be untrusting when it is warranted.

There are more ways to keep relationship alive but these are the basics that we often neglected.

To Be Loved As To Love

By Amy Biddle

Ernie Larson, author of "Stage II Recovery" and other works, uses a wonderful metaphor for relationships. If you picture yourself as a telephone pole, he says, and the other person as a telephone pole, you can see your relationship as the line strung between you. You can't hold up both ends by yourself.

I tell you that, because I want to tell you this: There's a lot of wonderful relationship advice to be found in spiritual writings and teachings. But if you try to use it on another person, hoping against hope that s/he will pick up the other end of the telephone line, it won't work.

If you are trying to relate to someone who hits you, cheats on you, ignores you until they want sex, or otherwise uses you in any way, then you are not in a relationship with that person. This relationship advice article does not apply to the two of you. What you have is a trauma bond, and I trust you to seek professional help, if that's what it takes, to extricate yourself.

For those connections with others that can honestly be called relationships, I have gathered some powerful relationship advice in my years of study and practice in conscious spiritual living.

The first thing to know is that there is unlimited love for you in this universe. You'll receive it as soon as you're willing to, and as soon as you quit dictating where you think it should come from and how it should be delivered. Be present to your life, and you'll see love showing up in the most unexpected places.

The second principle of relationship advice is that a relationship cannot be a closed system of two. If it is, it won't be a relationship for long. There needs to be space in any relationship for other friends, family, as well as room for Spirit to work in you and your loved one. Your primary relationship must be with your own concept of Spirit. All other relationships will fall into place.

The last thing I want to offer you will improve your communication skills. It's a copy of the Peace Prayer of St. Francis. No one really knows who wrote it, but this centuries old poem is packed with relationship advice.

Make me an instrument of Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine!
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born into eternal life.

Practice the principles of this prayer in all of your relationships, and you'll find that your life full of the kind of relationships you really want.

The Wonders Of Lemon On Your Beauty

1:43 PM by Lilian · 1 comments
Labels: ,
Do you know that lemon can be use as a beauty aid? I remember one of the Filipino actresses during her interview, she was asked about her beauty secret and she answered without hesitation, LEMON! She has a beautiful, fair and smooth skin and she is not beautiful face-wise but the skin is fantastic!

Why Lemon?

Lemon contains enzymes which help to cleanse the dead cells of your skin. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties. If taken as juice it helps
strengthen your immune system, cleanse your kidney and other organs, blood purifier, and is good for people who have heart problem because of it high potassium content. And don't forget it has a bleaching property and inexpensive beauty recipe!

Below are my few collections of homemade recipe that you can try and apply according to your taste.

A Natural Bleach and Moisturizer

Cut a lemon in half and rub it all over your body especially on hyper-pigmented areas like your elbows and knees to lighten them. Mix a few drops lemon juice with an equal amount of honey if you have dry skin, or with cucumber juice if your skin is oily. Wash off after 15 minutes. To get rid of age spots cut a lemon wedge and hold it directly on the spot for ten minutes. Rinse with warm water. Repeat this every day until the spots lighten or vanish altogether!

Mix equal proportions of tomato juice, lemon juice and milk and apply on face and body. Lemon as a skin tonic

The juice of a fresh pear and apple with a few drops of fresh lemon juice acts as a good skin tonic.

For Steam Cleansing

Most skin types benefit from regular steaming, but don't steam your face if you have thread veins as it would only worsen the condition. Also, don't steam your face more than once a week. it may dry your skin excessively. Bring a quarter of water to boil and take it to the table. Add the juice of half a lemon and a handful of any herbs (basil or mint). Tie back your hair and drape a towel over your head and the bowl to form a tent, to trap the steam. After you've steamed your face for fifteen minutes, gently squeeze out blackheads, if any, and splash it with cold water to close pores. Apply a moisturizer 15 minutes later.

Lemon Face Scrub

Mix cold milk and fresh lemon juice with powdered almonds or powdered orange peel or oatmeal. Rub the skin gently with this mix. Mix a tablespoon of honey with two tablespoons of finely ground almonds and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this gently on the face. Rinse off with warm water.

Add lemon and water and freeze it. Rub your face with these lemon ice cubes whenever you're hot, tired or simply bored...

As Anti-Wrinkle Mask

Mix a teaspoon of honey, a few drops of fresh lemon juice and a drop of sweet almond oil. Apply this on the face and allow it to dry for 20 minutes and wash off.

For Chapped Lips

Mix a teaspoon each of cream, lemon juice and honey and rub it on your lips. Use for a week to see results.

Hair Care

For hair that shines, add the juice of a lemon to one cup water. Pour it over your hair after shampooing as a final rinse. Do not rinse off.

Squeeze lemon juice in your hair while rinsing off the shampoo. This removes shampoo residue from your hair and smells great!

Troubled by hair loss? Try this: Mix the juice of one lemon with 4 tbsp coconut milk. Massage it into your scalp and wash off after half an hour. Do this at least once a week to arrest hairfall.

To Smooth d Skin

Mash an over-ripe banana and mix it with a few drops of fresh lemon juice. Apply on face and hands to keep the skin clear and smooth. Mix a teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of vegetable oil and one fourth of a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this into the hands, elbows, heels and any area that feels dry. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with water.

For Dry Skin

Mix 3 tsp lemon juice, 3 tsp honey, ½ tsp cabbage (boiled and crushed) paste. Mix to a paste all these ingredients in a dish and apply it on face and neck; wash off with cold water after 10 minutes and admire the new “you”!

For Oily Skin

Mix ½ tsp turmeric powder, 2 tsp lemon juice, 3 tsp papaya pulp to a smooth paste. Apply evenly over the face (keeping away from the eyes). Leave the pack on for 20 minutes and then wash it off.

For Freckles

To remove freckles, blanch and grind almonds and mix with white of an egg to which half tsp of lime juice has been added. Spread on the face and wash after 20 minutes.

For Teeth Whitening

Rubbing half a lemon with table salt and a pinch of baking soda on the teeth not only makes them white, shiny and bright but will also cure bad breath.

For Treating Grey Hair

Beat lemon juice in castor oil until frothy and add henna powder to it before applying it on your hair. Wash off after it dries or keep it overnight.

Massaging few drops of lime juice with ‘amla’ juice every night before going to bed, stops falling of hair, promotes hair growth them and prevents premature graying.

For Itchy Scalp and Dundruf

Take an egg white and mix it with the juice of a lemon. Apply this to the hair roots and rub it in. Wash it off after an hour. Repeat for a month.

For A Shiny Hair

Add lemon juice to a mug of water and use it as a last rinse, after your shampoo. Or boil used tea leaves in enough water and cool the liquid. Add the juice of a lemon and use it as a last rinse. This helps add shine to the hair.

For Bath

Turmeric when combined with lemon and starch, acts as an effective cleanser and also forms a barrier between the drying effect of chlorinated water and body skin. The following is an excellent body pack:

Mix 8 tsp of yoghurt (curds), 3 tsp. Lemon juice, 1 tsp of any vegetable oil. Apply this body pack with firm, upward movements. Wash off after 10 minutes and take a bath. This is perhaps one of the oldest skin rejuvenation therapies. Use this at least thrice a week for a satiny skin.

For Beautiful Hands

You will agree that your hands are on show just as much as your face. Pamper your hands with this simple & inexpensive lotion. Mix 3 tsp lemon juice, 6 tsp honey and 8 tsp almond oil in a dish. Massage well into hands for 10 to 12 minutes. Wash with a mixture of equal portions of vinegar and water. Preserve this lotion in a bottle for use on your hands. This lotion keeps well for 2 weeks.

Lemon for health:

You should make it a habit to start the day with lemon juice. Sip the juice of a lemon in a glass of warm water, sweetened with 1 tsp of honey. It will clear your entire system and relieve constipation. This sour fruit's glucose and mineral content also helps replace loss of the body's fluids through sweat, especially during the summer months. It stimulates blood circulation, reduces arterial pressure, and activates bile and intestinal secretions.

How To Get Rid of Stretch Marks Using Homemade Products

5:01 PM by Lilian · 0 comments
Labels: ,
Whether you are pregnant, developing muscles for bodybuilding, or lifting weight, you are bound to have stretch marks or striae gravidarum. They look ugly and flabby. There is no cure for them except through surgery but it is not guaranteed. You can find them at possible prone areas such as stomach, arms, thighs, breasts (boobs), legs, back, and chest. Even though they cannot be cured, but you can minimize their physical outlook. One thing for sure, you can't get rid of them permanently.

Usually, stretch marks don't irritate your skin. They may not bring to your attention until they become so obvious.
During the initial stage, they are pinkish red due to the breaking up of tiny blood vessels. Gradually, they become silvery white.

Herbal, natural and organic products and alternative treatments for stretch marks are gaining popularity. Some people want fast results that they resort to invasive and costly, repetitive procedures such as cosmetic operation and surgery. Others make their own concoction with herbs, essential oils, and stuff from their kitchen or visit their doctors for prescriptions. They only have one objective in mind that is to get rid of stretch marks for good with whatever possible ways.

You can deal with stretch marks successfully by finding the one or combination of treatments that are right for you before they become severe. Once the stretch marks develop, they will stay with you forever, but with time they will be less noticeable. The following free tips on this website can help you to get rid of stretch marks. These tips apply to everybody.

Instead of laser therapy, here is a recipe that you make at home. The things you need are
  • 1/2 cup virgin olive oil,
  • 1/4 cup aloe vera gel,
  • Liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin E, and
  • Liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A.

Mix all the ingredients together in a blender. Pour the mixture into a jar and store it in the fridge. Every day, apply the potion around the prone areas such as the belly, thighs, legs and breasts.

Using Egg Whites

Some people claim that their stretch marks disappear after using egg white and egg white powders. They deliver protein to your skin. Apply a thin layer of egg white on the stretch marks. Leave it to dry. Then wash it with cold water. Do this three times a day.

Using Oat Meal

You can find natural exfoliators in your kitchen such as oatmeal. You can use it to exfoliate your skin instead of body scrub. After exfoliating, apply plenty of moisturizer to keep the skin soft and hydrated.

Using Emu Oil

Pure emu oil can be easily bought from any health stores. It helps to reduce and remove stretch marks effectively because it can penetrate deep into the skin. It also can treat old scars.

Using Vitamin E

Vitamin E plays an important role in regulating your metabolism and healing of tissues and skin. It is also an antioxidant, eliminating free radicals that cause many health illnesses and skin problems. After surgery, doctors usually prescribe Vitamin E for scar healing. It maintains the radiance and smoothness of your skin.

You can take vitamin E orally or topically. The results may be different. Some prefer to take pills.

You can also enrich your diet with vitamin E. Foods that are rich in vitamin E are

  • almonds,
  • avocados,
  • canola,
  • corn ,
  • fortified cereals such as sunflower seeds,
  • oat bran,
  • peaches,
  • peanut butter,
  • polyunsaturated oils and seed,
  • safflower,
  • sunflower,
  • tomato puree, and
  • wheat germ.
By Doing Inner-Thigh Exercise

Activity and movement are essential for your bodies. That is how you stay at optimal functioning levels. When you don't exercise, your bodies have to cope with the excess weight and inactivity. Then you wonder why you have stretch marks!

This exercise helps to make your inner thigh firm. Lie down on the floor. Bend your knee and place your foot in front of your bottom leg. Then try to raise the bottom leg up about six inches lower the leg to the floor

Slowly increase to 20 repetitions three times a week when the exercise becomes easy each time.

Note: You can prevent stretch marks during pregnancy by applying the Extra Virgin Oil, Cocoa Butter and pure Vitamin E oil on the stomach and breast. Massage twice daily.

Breastfeeding and Caffeine

1:04 PM by Lilian · 0 comments
Labels:
Mothers of newborn babies are often tired women. The demands of meeting their infants' needs night and day can create a bit of sleep deprivation that leaves them fatigued and reaching for the coffee pot. Breastfeeding mothers may have concerns about drinking coffee and whether the caffeine within the stimulating brew will affect their baby through their milk supply. The good news is nursing mothers can drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages in moderation without great risk to their child.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has declared that coffee is safe to drink by a breastfeeding mother and will have little affect on an infant, as long as a nursing mother does not go over three cups a day. Without exceeding three cups of coffee a day, or its equivalent in other beverages, the amount of caffeine passed on to the baby is minimal and in most cases is well tolerated with no adverse reaction. Remember there are many other sources of caffeine in your diet, from colas and tea. Many cold remedies contain caffeine, as does chocolate! These all need to be taken into account when you are totting up your daily quota.

How Does Caffeine Affects Your Nursing Baby?

Obviously, caffeine will have a greater effect on your baby than you, due to the differences in size and the baby’s immature digestive system. Caffeine is a stimulant, and an accumulation of caffeine in your baby’s system could have noticeable effects on their behavior.

Kellymom described the following symptoms of a baby that is affected by caffeine:

  • Wide eyed
  • Overly active
  • Hyper alert
  • Awake more than is normal
  • Will not sleep for long periods of time
  • Unusually fussy
If your baby is affected by the caffeine in your diet, cut down gradually each day until you have given it up altogether. And remember to watch out for all the different sources of caffeine listed above.

How long does the caffeine take to leave the mother’s system?

Caffeine can clear a mother’s system in around eight hours or less, but in a baby it can stay for several days. Knowing this, you can choose to only drink or consume caffeine immediately after you have breast fed. This way it will be virtually out of your system by the time you next breastfeed. Still keep your total quota under the five small cups a day limit, however, including all sources. Drink a few glasses of water after consuming coffee, as this will dilute the caffeine and reduce the effects of its diuretic properties.

I can’t give up coffee. Help!

If you just can’t manage to do without your daily fix of caffeine, try following these tips:

1. Limit the amount of caffeine you do consume as much as you can.
2. Caffeine is at its highest level in breast milk around one hour after you have drunk it. Bear this in mind when drinking your one or two precious cups a day.
3. Smoking will only increase the effect of caffeine on you and your baby, so don’t smoke if you drink caffeine. Of course, you shouldn’t be smoking anywhere around your baby at all. If you were unable to kick the habit while pregnant, talk to your doctor for help.

The Truth About Green Tea Weight Loss

2:04 PM by Lilian · 0 comments

Green tea weight loss have been both lauded as effective, and criticised as being a child of advertising without evidence that it works in weight loss. So what's the truth?

Studies relating to green tea and weight loss

I went looking for studies that would either support or disprove green tea weight loss. Contrary to some critics, I found both studies in the animal AND human model that are very promising.

Animal studies are currently used by mainstream science for leads as to whether something is worth proceeding to human studies on. There are a lot of drawbacks to animal studies, one of the main ones (aside from the pain caused to the animal) is that for different species of animals, you get different results. And that can lead to false conclusions as to whether what is being studied, like green tea weight loss, is effective.

There were a number of studies done with humans in relation to green tea weight loss, however. Read more...

Giving Good Instruction To Children

3:42 PM by Lilian · 1 comments

Does getting your child to do something feel like an impossible task? One of the reasons may be the way in which you are asking. Children are not necessarily receptive to the types of verbal instruction that we use with our spouse, colleagues or other adults. Instructions for children must be given in a way that they understand. Below are some helpful hints on how to give kids instructions that will make both you and your child more successful.

Get your child’s attention – Make sure that you have your child’s attention before you give a direction. You should be within three feet of your child so you can talk in a normal or calm voice. This helps your child know that you are talking to him/her. You can get your child’s attention by calling his/her name, making eye contact, or turning off the lights. Read More...

Scientists say they have worked out the complete genetic blueprint of a cancer for the first time.

The Washington University team identified 10 gene mutations which appeared key to the development of the woman's acute myeloid leukaemia.

Just two of these had been linked to the disease before.

The sequencing technique, described in the journal Nature, could be applied to other cancers and aid the design of targeted drugs. Read more...

Women's hands 'harbour more bugs'

According to researchers, the typical human hand is home to more than 150 species of bacteria, a far higher number than previously thought. The study identified 4,742 types of bacteria thriving on 51 pairs of hands. Only 5 bacterial species were shared by all participants. On average, women carried 50% more species of bacteria on their hands than men, possibly due to the fact that men’s skin is generally more acidic and less welcoming to bacteria. Women’s use of moisturizers and cosmetics may also be a factor. More on the subject...
