Tips And Ideas On What To Wear On Valentines Day Date

a photoValentines Day is in the air. Most women are looking forward for a great and romantic date with their love ones. Whether your new boyfriend wants to take you on a sexy date or your husband wants to treat you to an elegant evening dinner, you’ll need to dress for love!

Use these tips and ideas below to figure out what to wear on St. Valentine’s Day to make the holiday of love full of fashionable fun.

Choosing Your Color Wisely – Why Not Red, Pink or Hearts
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like wearing red or pink. While these colors may be too bold for everyday wear, they are more than acceptable for the holiday of love. When choosing your perfect red or pink outfit, think about your skin tone and hair color. There are thousands of shades of both colors, allowing you to wear one which will compliment your skin. Those with dark hair can get away with bolder colors of red. Those with light hair should stick with cooler shades of red or pink. However, those with red hair should steer clear of red altogether and choose a nice light pink for the holiday. If you can fathom wearing either red or pink in your outfit, consider celebrating the holiday with accessories. Add a red scarf to your black suit or a pink belt to your little back dress.

Get Flirty In a Skirt
If you want to look like you’re up for a little flirting fun, think about choosing a skirt for your Valentine’s Date. Since this holiday is extremely romantic, it’s a great idea for you to embrace your feminine style and dress like a lady. A great red, pink or black dress is ideal. However, a great A-line or pencil skirt can make just as great of an impression. Pair it with a form fitting top, high heels and soft jewelry for maximum fashion style.

a pictureSexy Lingerie Makes A Statement – Even if it is Just for You
Whether you plan on showing it off or not, lingerie is a “must” on a Valentine’s Date. Lingerie automatically makes a woman feel more feminine, sexy and attractive. Thus, it’s a great idea to buy something new to wear under your clothing for a romantic date on Valentine’s Day. Even if you don’t allow anyone else to sneak a peek, you’ll feel sexier just by having it on.

Makeup & Hairstyles for Romantic Evenings
Valentine’s Date makeup should be suited for the activity. For example, if your date is taking you on a romantic ice skating date in New York City, there’s no need for full makeup and extravagant hairstyles. Instead, choose to keep it simple and sweet with rosy cheeks, glossy lips and a neutral eye. Keep your hair simple and romantic by curling it into soft curls and pulling it into a ponytail.

However, if your date is in the evening think about using a smoky eye makeup technique, red gloss on the lips and rosy cheeks. For extra shimmer, skip the glitter (it’s only reserved fan imageor teens and young girls) and instead use a champagne body shimmer on your cheeks and cleavage. In a pinch you can substitute the genuine body shimmer for shimmering white eye shadow or highlighting cream. An evening date requires more sophisticated hair so choose a fancy up-do, a simple bun or loose and flowing curls.

Clothing To Avoid – Keep it Elegant
Just because it’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you should pull out the hearts and cupid imprinted turtleneck or the homemade holiday sweatshirt. Instead, choose to be festive in a more subtle manner. You can quickly add a sense of holiday fun to an outfit my using metallic accessories to celebrate. A scarf with a metallic stripe in it or even a shirt with a silver pinstripe can instantly scream “holiday” while still allowing you to look classy and in fashion.

10 Must Do Breakup Advice

If you are going through the emotional roller coaster of a breakup, feeling pain, anger and depression, know this: You don’t need to suffer one more day over your ex! It doesn’t matter how long you have suffered, it is time to give up the pain and open up to a life free of pain.

Yes, breaking up is hard to do. We've all gone through it, we've all cried and thought it would never end. But life does go on, and it actually gets much better!

Follow these must do 10 "breakup advice" By Tigress Luv, the Breakup Guru and see a great result. Give these to your friend/s who are in this situation.

1. Be Realistic.
Don't over-exaggerate your ex's good points and under-acknowledge their bad. Do not put your ex on a pedestal!

The funny thing about being 'dumped' is that we unconsciously build up our ex's worth in our minds. We start to make them into better beings than they really are, erroneously making them to be more powerful and 'needed' influences in our lives. Unfortunately, while we are building them up to Higher Power status in our minds, they are ripping our worth to shreds in order to find the strength to leave us.

2. Accept It
Accept that the breakup did occur and that the relationship is over. By refusing to accept this you are only lengthening the grief process. You cannot keep a relationship alive in your 'head' by denying the breakup occurred, or by thing about the relationship and rehashing things over and over. Whether you accept it or not the facts still remain: You have broken up. The relationship is over. And you will be okay. I promise you!

3. Put You First
If you don't find value in you, who will? Pamper and love yourself first and foremost. This is not the time to turn your back on you, but rather a time to embrace you. God made your arms just long enough to embrace yourself. Try it. No one is looking! Go ahead and put your arms around you and give yourself a huge, cradling hug! Of all the people in your life, you are the only one that will never abandon you.

4. Write Your Thoughts Down
Start your own personal journal about your journey from your heartbreak to 'better-than-ever'. I know one man who kept a record of his breakup by posting on the Lifted Hearts break up board at http://liftedhearts.com, starting from his devastating beginning days, to his healed and in love again days, and then turned them into an awesome book of self-discovery and hope. You can find a great source made specifically for journaling through your breakup with the book, My Breakup Keepsake, found at http://mybreakupkeepsake.com.

5. Forgive Him or Her
Find forgiveness for your ex - and for yourself. It is impossible to heal without forgiveness. Understand that your ex isn't looking to hurt you, but rather looking to find his or her own happiness.

6. Accept That You Love Them
Recognize that you cannot will yourself to not love someone. You loved your ex, and perhaps you always will. Quit beating yourself up over the fact and quit trying to find the magic bullet that will slay your love. It's okay to love someone that you are not with, and may never be with, but it's not okay to try to fall out of love with someone.

7. Make a Plan
Get a goal and implement it. Plan out your new goal and start with step on, not finishing until you've accomplished the final step. This goal could be to write a book, grow a garden, change careers, go back to school, or lose twenty pounds…having a goal gives you something to focus on and work towards. It keeps you from dwelling on what was and keeps you avidly looking forward to what 'will' be.

8. Change It Up
Get rid of the same-ol'-same! Alter your routine, rearrange your home, or remodel a room. Get a new hairdo, buy a new car, volunteer at a local charity…. anything that changes your typical lifestyle can be most rewarding during a breakup. Sometimes the old and the 'familiar' can be devastatingly sad when going through the transition from two to one, so change it up!

9. Keep Yourself Clean - and You Know What I Mean!
This is not the time to turn to alcohol, drugs, or one-nights stands in a feeble attempt to kill your pain. It only adds to your problems and can end up being a permanent reminder to a temporary situation. Even simple things such as energy drinks or too much caffeine can cause anxiety or escalate out-of-hand emotions to full-blown panic attacks - which are a very common occurrence during a breakup. Learn to cope with out-of-hand emotions by spirituality, soothing music, sipping tea, taking a 'time-out', reading a book, or - my favorite - walking! I walked myself into the sexiest legs and prettiest tan during my breakup. What an added bonus that was!

10. Date Again
Don't worry about all the advice you hear about waiting to date again. Most of it's bunk. Dating again gets you out of the house, where breakup depression can fester and turn into something far worse. Dating again always restores a shattered ego, which is a very common by-product of a breakup. Dating again may also show you that there are millions of other people out there that can be as wonderful as your ex, or perhaps even more wonderful! If you open your heart back up and let new people in you will feel better.

The best things in life – success, happiness, love – depend on our ability to create and maintain great relationships. Most of us do a good job with relationships at the start, only to stumble down the road. Why do relationships develop such challenging problems?

Oftentimes, relationship problems are due to a breakdown in the skills of emotional intelligence. Fortunately, it’s never too late to develop these skills and raise your emotional intelligence abilities. Once you’ve learned the five key emotional intelligence skills, you’ll be able to create and sustain secure, successful, long-lasting relationships.

How does emotional intelligence help our relationships?
Many people put their best foot forward in a new work setting or when looking to attract a mate, but stumble while trying to maintain their relationships over the long term. That’s because keeping a relationship healthy and fulfilling requires a unique skill set that many of us don’t have. This skill set is known as emotional intelligence.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, control, and effectively communicate our own emotions, and to recognize the emotions of other people. When our emotional intelligence skills are well developed, we have a solid emotional foundation that helps us build strong relationships and communicate clearly.

What is your current emotional intelligence skill level?
Your emotional intelligence is your set of key relationship skills or abilities that help you establish strong relationships and deal with relationship problems. Find your emotional intelligence skill level by answering usually, sometimes, or rarely to the questions in this quick relationship quiz.

Test your emotional intelligence :
  • Do you feel connected when talking to most people? Or are you easily distracted?
  • Are you comfortable with pauses? Do you feel at ease when no one is speaking?
  • Do you sense when someone feels troubled before being told?
  • Do you judge or criticize some of your emotions or feelings?
  • Do you pay attention to your gut feelings when making important decisions?
  • Do you immediately notice when you become stressed?
  • Do you know how to quickly calm yourself down when you’re stressed?
  • Do you laugh, play, or kid around with others?
  • Do you use humor to negotiate rough spots?
  • Can you easily deal with differences and disagreements?
Answering usually to most of the questions indicates that you have a good start toward emotionally intelligent communication in your relationships. If your answers were primarily sometimes or rarely, you may need some help developing your relationship skills.

Grudge Between Husband and Wife

3:55 PM by Lilian · 9 comments
Labels: , ,
This is an article for all the single, married, divorced, widowed individuals, who take life for granted. Please read this story until the end, it is such an eye opener for your action in the future...

I am totally speechless, this story brought tears to my eyes as I read through each line eager to know what would happen next. It truly showed the devastating power of grudges and anger!

Just two years after our marriage, hubby brought up the idea of asking mother to move from the rural hometown and spend her remaining years with us. Hubby's father passed away while he was still very young. Mother endured much hardship and struggled all on her own to provide for him, see him through to a university degree. You could say that she suffered a great deal and did everything you could expect of a woman to bring hubby to where he is today.

I immediately agreed and started packing the spare room, which has a balcony facing the South to let her enjoy the sunshine and plant greenery. Hubby stood in the bright room, and suddenly just picked me up and started spinning round and round. As I begged him to put me down, he said: "Lets go fetch mother." Hubby is tall and big sized and I love to test on his chest and enjoy the feeling that he could pick me up at any moment put the tiny me into his pockets.

Whenever we have an argument and both refuses to back down, he would pick me up and spin me over his head continuously until I surrender and beg for mercy. I became addicted to this kind of panic-joy feeling.

Mother brought along her countryside habits and lifestyle with her. For example; I am so used to buying flowers to decorate the living room, she could not stand it and would comment: "I do not know how you young people spend your money, why do you buy flowers for? You also can't eat flowers!" I smiled and said: "Mum, with flowers in the house, our mood will also become better." Mother continues to grumble away, and hubby smiled: "Mum, this is a city-people's habit; slowly you will get use to it."

Mother stopped saying anything. But every time thereafter, whenever came home with flowers, she would ask me how much it costs. I told her and she would shake her head and express displeasure. Sometimes, when I come home with lots of shopping bags, she would ask each and every item how much they cost, I would tell her honestly and she would get even more upset about it. Hubby playfully pinched my nose and said: "You little fool, just don't tell her the full price of everything would solve it."

There begins the friction to our otherwise happy lifestyle.

Mother hates it most when hubby wakes up early to prepare the breakfast. In your view, how could the man of the house cook for the wife? At the breakfast table, mother facial expression is always like the dark clouds before a thunderstorm and I would pretend not to notice. She would use her chopsticks and make a lot of noise with it as her silent protest.

As I am a dance teacher in the Children's Palace and am exhausted from along day of dancing around, I do not wish to give up the luxury of that additional few minutes in the comfort of my bed and hence I turned a deaf ear to all the protest mother makes. From time to time, mother would help out with some housework, but soon her help created additional work for me. For example: she would keep all kinds of plastic bags accumulating them so that she sell them later on, and resulted in our house being filled with all the trash bags; she would scrimp on dish washing detergent when helping to wash the dishes and so as not to hurt her feelings, I would quietly wash them again.

One day, late at night, mother saw me quietly washing the dishes, and "Bam" she slams her bedroom door and cried very loudly in her room. Hubby was placed in a difficult position, and after that, he did not speak to me for that entire night. I pretended to be a spoilt child, tried acting cute, but he totally ignored me.... I got mad and asked him: "What did I do wrong?" Hubby stared at me and said: "Can't you just give in to her once? We couldn't possibly die eating from a bowl however unclean it is, right?" After that incident, for a long period of time, mother did not speak to me and you can feel that there is a very awkward feeling hanging in the house. During that period of cold war, hubby was caught in dilemma as to who to please.

In order to stop her son from having to prepare breakfast, mother took on the "all important" task of preparing breakfast without any prompting. At the breakfast table, mother would look at hubby happily eating his breakfast and cast that reprimanding stare at me for having failed to perform my duty as a wife. To avoid the embarrassing breakfast situation, I resorted to buying my own breakfast on my way to work. That night, while in bed, hubby was a little upset and asked me: "LD, is it because you think that mum's cooking is not clean that's why you chose not to eat at home?" He then turned his back on me and left me alone in tears as feeling of unfairness overwhelmed me. After some time, hubby sighed: "LD, just for me, can you have breakfast at home?" I am left with no choice but to return to the breakfast table.

The next morning, I was having porridge prepared by mother and I felt a sudden churn in my stomach and everything inside seem to be rushing up my throat. I tried to suppress the urge to throw up but I could not. I threw down the bowl, rushed into the washroom, and vomited everything out. Just as I was catching my breath, I saw mother crying and grumbling very loudly in her dialect, hubby was standing at the washroom doorway staring at me with fire burning in his eyes.. I opened my mouth but no words came out of it, I really did not mean it.

We had our very first big fight that day; mother took a look at us, then stood up and slowly made her way out of the house. Hubby gave me a final stare in the eye and followed mother down the stairs. For three days, hubby did not return home, not even a phone call. I was so furious, since mother arrived; I had been trying my best and putting up with her, what else do you want me to do? For no reason, I keep having the feeling to throw up and I simply have no appetite for food, coupled with all the events happening at home, I was at then low point in my life.

Finally, a colleague said: "LD, you look terrible; you should go and see a doctor." The doctor confirmed that I am pregnant.

Now it became clear to me why I threw up that fateful morning, a sense of sadness floated through that otherwise happy news. Why didn't hubby, and mother who had been through this before, thought of the possibility of this being the reason that day? At the hospital entrance, I saw my hubby standing there. It had only been three days, but he looked haggard. I had wanted to turn and leave, but one look at him and my heart soften, I couldn't resist and called out to him. He followed my voice and finally found me but he pretended that he doesn't know me; he has that disgusted look in his eyes that cut right through my heart. I told myself not to look at him anymore, and hail a cab. At that moment, I have such a strong urge inside me to shout to my hubby: "Darling, I am having your baby!" and have him lift me up and spin me around in circles of joy. What I wanted didn't happen and as I sat in the cab, my tears started rolling down. Why? Why our love couldn't even withstand the test of one fight?

Back home, I lay on the bed thinking about my hubby, and the disgusted look in his eyes. I cried and wet the corner of the blanket. That night, sound of the drawers opening woke me up. I switched on the lights and I saw hubby with tears rolling down his face. He was removing the money. I stared at him in silence; he ignored me, took the bank deposit book and some money and left the house. Maybe he really intends to leave me for good. What a rational man, so clear-cut in love and money matters. I gave a few dried laugh and tears starting streaming down again. The next day, I did not go to work. I wanted to clear this out and have a good talk with hubby. I reached his office and his secretary gave me a weird look and said: "Mr. Tan's mother had a traffic accident and is now in the hospital."

I stood there in shock. I rushed to the hospital and by the time I found hubby, mother had already passed away. Hubby did not look at me, his face was expressionless. I looked at mother's pale white and thin face and I couldn't control the tears in my eyes. My god, how could this happen?

Throughout the funeral, hubby did not say a single word to me, with only the occasional disgusted stare at me. I only managed to find out brief facts about the accident from other people. That day, after mother left the house, she walked in dazed toward the bus stop, apparently intending to go back to her old house back in the countryside. As hubby ran after her, she tried to walk faster and as she tried to cross the street, a public bus came and hit her...I finally understood how much hubby must hate me, if I had not thrown up that morning, if we had not quarreled, if....In his heart, I am indirectly the killer of his mother.

Hubby moved into mother's room and came home every night with a strong liquor smell on him. And me, I am buried under the guilt and self-pity and could hardly breathe. I wanted to explain to him, tell him that we are going to have our baby soon, but each time, I saw the dead look in his eyes, all the words I have at the brink of my mouth just fell back in. I had rather he hit me real hard or give me a big and thorough scolding though none of these events happening had been my fault at all.

Many days of suffocating silence went by and as the days went by, hubby came home later and later. The deadlock between us continues, we were living together like strangers who don't know each other. I am like the dead knot in his heart.

One day, I passed by a western restaurant, looking into the glass window, I saw hubby and a girl sitting facing each other and he very lightly brushed her hair for her, I understood what it meant. After recovering from that moment of shock, I entered the restaurant, stood in front of my hubby and stared hard at him, not a tear in my eyes. I have nothing to say to him, and there is no need to say anything. The girl looked at me, looks at hubby, stands up and wanted to go, hubby stretched out his hand and stopped her. He stared back at me, challenging me. I can only hear my slow heart beat, beating, one by one as if at the brink of death. I eventually backed down, if I had stood that any longer, I will collapse together with the baby inside me. That night, he did not come home; he had chosen to use that as a way to indicate to me: Following mother's death so did our love for each other.

He did not come home anymore after that. Sometimes, when I returned home from work, I can tell that the cupboard had been touched - he had returned to take some of his stuff. I no longer wish to call him; the initial desire to explain everything to him vanished. I lived alone; I go for my medical checkups alone, my heart breaks again and again every time I see a guy carefully helping his wife through the physical examination. My office colleagues hinted to me to consider aborting the baby, I told them No, I will not.. I insisted on having to this baby, perhaps it is my way of repaying mother for causing her death.

One day, I came home and I saw hubby sitting in the living room. The whole house was filled with cigarette smoke. On the coffee table, there was this piece of paper. I know what it is all about without even looking at it. In the two months plus of living alone, I have gradually learned to find peace within myself. I looked at him, removed my hat and said: "You wait a while, I will sign." He looked at me, mixed feelings in his eyes, just like mine.

As I hang up my coat, I keep repeating to myself "You cannot cry, you cannot cry..." my eyes hurt terribly, but I refused to let tears come out from there. After I hung up my coat, hubby's eyes stared fixed at my bulging tummy. I smiled, walked over to the coffee table and pulled the paper towards me. Without even looking at what it says, I signed my name on it and pushed the paper to him. "LD, are you pregnant?" Since mother's accident, this is the first time he spoke to me. I could not control my tears any further and they fell like raindrops. I said: "Yes, but its ok, you can leave now." He did not go, in the dark, we sat, facing each other. Hubby slowly moved over me, his tears wet the blanket. In my heart, everything seems so far away, so far that even if I sprint, I could never reach them. I cannot remember how many times he repeated "sorry" to me. I had originally thought that I would forgive him, but now I can't. In the western restaurant, in front of that girl, that cold look in his eyes, I will never forget, ever. We have drawn such deep scars in each other's heart. For me, it's unintentional; for him, totally intentional. I had been waiting for this moment of reconciliation, but I realized now, what had gone past is gone forever and could not repeated.

Other than the thought of the baby inside me that would bring some warmth to my heart, I am totally cold towards him, I no longer eat anything he buys for me, I don't take any presents from him and I stopped talking to him. From the moment I signed on that piece of paper, marriage and love had vanished from my heart. Sometimes, hubby will try to come into the bedroom, but when he walks in, I will walk out to the living room. He had no choice but to sleep in mother's room. At night, from his room, I can hear light sounds of groaning, I kept quiet. This used to be his trick; last time, whenever I ignore him, he would fake illness and I will surrender and find out what is wrong with him, he would then grab me and laugh. He has forgotten that last time I cared for him and am concerned because there was love, but now, what is there between us? Hubby's groaning came on and off continuing but I continuously ignored him.

Almost everyday, he would buy something for the baby, infant products, children products and books that kids like to read. Bags and bags of it stacked inside his room till it is full. I know he is trying to use this to reach out to me, but I am no longer moved by his actions. He has no choice but to lock himself in his room and I can hear his typing away on his computer keyboard, maybe he is now addicted to web surfing but none of that matters to me anymore. It was sometime towards the end of spring in the following year, one late night, I screamed because of a sudden stomach pain, hubby came rushing into the room, its like he did not change and sleep, and had been waiting for this moment. He carried me and ran down the stairs, stopped a car, holding my hand very tightly and kept wiping the sweat off my brow, throughout the journey to the hospital. Once we reached the hospital, he carried me and hurried into the delivery suite. Lying on the back of his skinny but warmth body, a thought crossed my mind: In my lifetime, who else would love me as much as he did?

He held the delivery suite door opened and watch me go in; his warm eyes caused me to manage a smile at him despite my contraction pain. Coming out of the delivery room, hubby looked at our son and me, eyes tear with joy and he kept smiling. I reached out and touched his hand. Hubby looked at me, smiling and then he slowly collapsed onto the floor. I cried out for him in pain... He smiled, but without opening that tired eyes of his... I had thought that I would never shed any tear for him, but the truth is, I have never felt a deeper pain cutting through my body at that moment. Doctor said that by the time hubby discovered he had liver cancer, it was already in terminal stage and it was a miracle that he managed to last this long. I asked the doctor when he first discovered he had cancer. Doctor said about 5 months ago and consoled me saying: "Prepare for his funeral."

I disregarded the nurse's objection and rushed home, I went into his room and checked his computer, and a suffocating pain hits me. Hubby's cancer was discovered 5 months ago, his groaning was real, and I had thought that...the computer showed over 200 thousand words he wrote for our son: "Son, just for you, I have persisted, to be able to take a look at you before I fall, is my biggest wish now... I know that in your life, you will have many happiness and maybe some setbacks, if only I can accompany you throughout that journey, how nice would it be. But daddy now no longer has that chance. Daddy has written inside here all the possible difficulties and problems you may encounter during your lifetime, when you meet with these problems, you can refer to daddy's suggestion....

Son, after writing these 200 thousand words, I feel as if I have accompanied you through life journey. To be honest, daddy is very happy. Do love your mother, she has suffered, she is the one who loves you most and also the one who loves me most..." From play school to primary school, to secondary, university, to work and even in dealing with questions of love, everythingbig and small was written there.

Hubby has also written a letter for me:

"My dear, to marry you is my biggest happiness, forgive me for the pain I have caused you, forgive me for not telling you my illness, because I want to see you be in a joyful mood waiting for the arrival of our baby...My dear, if you cried, it means that you have forgiven me and I would smile, thank you for loving me...These presents, I'm afraid I cannot give them to our son personally, could you help me to give some of them to him every year, the dates on what to give when are all written on the packaging... "

Going back to the hospital, hubby is still in coma. I brought our son over and place him beside him. I said: "Open your eyes and smile, I want our son to remember being in the warmth of your arms..." He struggled to open his eyes and managed a weak smile. Our son still in his arms was happily waving his tiny hands in the air. I press the button on the camera and the sound of the shutter rang through the air as tears slowly rolled down my face.... A fatal misunderstanding and the person who loves me the most in this world is gone forever..."Cruel misunderstandings one after another disrupted the blissful footsteps to our family. Our originals intend of having Mother enjoy some quiet and peaceful moments in her remaining years with us went terribly wrong as destiny's secret is finally revealed at a price, every thing became too late."........

This is a true story.

LEARNING POINT - DO NOT EVER HOLD ON TO OFFENCES!!!

Simple humility and communication would have resolved most of the problems in that story, as well as patience.... This story has really touched my heart and life as a whole and it has stimulated a paradigm shift. Though it is very sad, it is also very refreshing to know that from today, I can consciously start to live a life free of grudge. People please let's live a life devoid of grudge. Communication is key.

Take greatest care and live on.

Research has shown that many marriages that end in divorces can be prevented – if the couple spent more time and effort learning the easy ways to rediscover the passion and intimacy in their marriages. There is no doubt that over the years, even the most passionate of marriages can lose some fizzle, especially if a child comes into the picture. The parents may divert all their attention on the child, forgetting their spouse and their needs. This can leave a partner feeling rejected, thus creating the early ripples in a relationship. If left unnoticed, the ripple can become a big wave, drowning everything you’ve had in your marriage, leaving you with nothing at the end of the day.

Slowly losing that loving feeling in your marriage? Don’t let it slide; here is how you can keep that marriage spark alive.

Here is the thing – great relationships take work. Maintaining a healthy and happy marriage is not an easy thing. Fortunately, there are plenty of ideas to help ensure the success of your relationship. Just make sure you make the effort to try these ideas out or even add some of your own to make it personal.

Talk, Like You Used To

Communication breakdown is the first step to an unhappy marriage. Partners who have stopped talking to each other will eventually stop caring. Don’t let this happen to you. Talk to your partner about your personal, relational and family goals and dreams. Share those talks together to create a strong bond even after many years of marriage.

Go On Dates

Don’t just centre your life around the children and your career; take some time off to enjoy each other’s company like you used to! Practise the weekly date night routine. After all, you and your spouse will need this private time to talk, share and bond. Leave the children in the care of someone you trust so you can enjoy these private moments without worrying about the children. Do something you both enjoy – whether it is a walk around the neighbourhood or even dining at your favourite restaurant.

Say “I Love You”
Many times, these simple three words have been taken for granted. To bring the spark back in your relationship, rediscover the true meaning of love. Share with your partner the three things you love about him, and ask him to do the same for you. Learn to appreciate each other again. Or make that effort for the little things to show exactly how you feel. Slip a note in his work bag or send him a random text message while at work.

Stay Physical
For marriages to work, it is important to stay attracted to one another. The first thing to do is to give your partner a passionate kiss every day to revive that spark. Make it truly sensual. Before you know it, that kiss will lead to more, leaving both of you feeling instantly recharged!

Go Away – Alone
Plan weekend getaways, without the children, at least once every three months. Studies have shown that couples who take just one vacation a year will see vast improvements in their relationships. Use the vacation time to relax and revive your relationship with your partner while enjoying quality adult time. Hire a babysitter to look after your children or let them spend their time with their grandparents. Don’t feel guilty about this alone time – you definitely won’t be at ease if all you can think about are your children!

Are you and your spouse speaking the same language? While love is a many splendored thing, it is sometimes a very confusing thing, too. And as people come in all varieties, shapes, and sizes, so do their choices of personal expressions of love. But more often than not, the giver and the receiver express love in two different ways. This can lead to misunderstanding, quarrels, and even divorce.

Learn to speak and understand your mate's love language, and in no time you will be able to effectively love and truly feel loved in return. Skillful communication is within your grasp!

Dr. Gary Chapman in his international best seller book: The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate identifies five basic languages of love and then guides couples towards a better understanding of their unique languages of love:
  1. Quality Time
  2. Words of Affirmation
  3. Gifts
  4. Acts of Service
  5. Physical Touch
What speaks volumes to you may be meaningless to your spouse. But here, at last, is the key to understanding each other’s unique needs. Apply the right principles, learn the right language, and soon you’ll know the profound satisfaction and joy of being able to express your love-and feeling truly loved in return.

Books for Love, Marriage, Relationship, Commitment, Divorce and Sex

Steve Harvey, the host of the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show, can't count the number of impressive women he's met over the years, whether it's through the "Strawberry Letters" segment of his program or while on tour for his comedy shows. These are women who can run a small business, keep a household with three kids in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. Yet when it comes to relationships, they can't figure out what makes men tick. Why? According to Steve it's because they're asking other women for advice when no one but another man can tell them how to find and keep a man. In Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, Steve lets women inside the mindset of a man and sheds lights on concepts and questions such as:
  • The Ninety Day Rule: Ford requires it of its employees. Should you require it of your man?
  • How to spot a mama's boy and what if anything you can do about it.
  • When to introduce the kids. And what to read into the first interaction between your date and your kids.
  • The five questions every woman should ask a man to determine how serious he is.
  • And more...

10 Possible Casues Of Boredom In Marriage

How many marriages today are experiencing boredom? Is it few, some or more? A book written by William Doherty in 2003, Take Back Your Marriage: Sticking Together in a World That Pulls Us Apart tackles the issue of boredom.

He wrote on page 23 that “... stakes are high. We must name these forces that undermine marriage, from the small forces such as boredom to the big ones such as the throwaway consumer culture...

"We won’t comment on the throwaway consumer culture – we all agree that excessive materialism distracts people and can erode basic family values.

Doherty mentions boredom as one of those “small forces” that can affect a marriage. To us, however, it is NOT a small force. Boredom in marriage is like a hairline crack on the wall until time and inaction transform it into an irreparable major fault zone. Once the crack is too big, both husband and wife have already gone deeper into the abyss, unable to extricate themselves from a helpless situation.

Boredom in Marriage: Possible Causes
What causes boredom in marriage? Is it just the lack of exciting sex or does aging have something to do with it? For some couples, it could just be sex – a common complaint no doubt. For other couples, it may be the lack of intellectual stimulation or what others call intellectual incompatibility.

We have heard some people say that by the time they reach retirement age, they have already shared and lived beautiful moments. It is up to them to continue those beautiful moments beyond retirement. Easier said than done!Unfortunately, however, not all couples can sustain beauty and excitement in their marriage. When they retire, they fall into a boring pattern of eating, reading the paper, watching television, doing the groceries, visiting with the kids and grandchildren every once in awhile, and repeating that routine until they begin to question if there’s anything else to living.

This routine even becomes more tiresome when couples are financially strapped. Insufficient resources can sometimes be a factor of boredom in marriage.

Let’s look at some of the possible causes of boredom in marriage:
  1. Not enough sex (or boring sex)
  2. Illness and disability
  3. Inability to age gracefully
  4. Lack of mutual interests
  5. Intellectual incompatibility
  6. Absence of humor
  7. Social isolation
  8. No community support
  9. Dependent adult children
  10. Insufficient financial resources
If you study these causes, three major categories are apparent:
  1. financial problems (presence of adult children in the home and insufficient financial resources),
  2. personality differences (boring sex, aging, lack of mutual interests, incompatibility, absence of humor),
  3. external factors (illness and disability, social isolation, no community support).
Boredom in Marriage Due to Financial Problems
We used to know colleagues who were nearing retirement but could not plan for it. They said that they had to postpone retirement because “we’re still helping our middle aged children financially. They are always short of cash and my husband and I have no choice but to help in whatever way we can. Because a portion of our savings has to be shared, my husband and I can’t afford to travel so we can’t really enjoy our lifetime savings. That has put a strain on our marriage.”

The era of downsizing and the dire consequences of easy credit have put adult children into a cash crunch, forcing them to turn to their parents for financial assistance. When a retiring couple postpones retirement because of financial issues, boredom can set in.

You figure that after having slaved at a job for 40-45 years, you’re entitled to reap the fruits of your labor. When your children are financially struggling, self-imposed deprivation can hurt, leading to resentment or boredom.

How do you add spice to the broth when there isn’t enough money to buy the spice? Instead of traveling and discovering new worlds, husband and wife have to content themselves with local trips; in some instances, even local trips are unaffordable. Or else, instead of investing in a new sport or hobby, husband and wife have to tighten the purse strings so they can contribute towards the dental braces of their second grandchild.

This lack of choices and lack of freedom generate boredom. This also applies to married couples who are still many years away from retirement. Children’s expenses such as tuition, camp, baby-sitters, extra-curricular activities and school trips eat into the family budget, preventing mother and father from enjoying the finer things in life.

If husband and wife mutually decide to postpone a trip to Europe, that means fewer opportunities for them to share meaningful experiences.

Boredom in Marriage Due to Personality Differences
It is common to hear husbands and wives complain about the lack of intellectual stimulation. “We’ve grown apart”, one spouse says, “he’s into baseball and golf and can’t stop talking about them. I don’t share any of his interests. I think golf is utterly boring.” Or else you hear a husband say, “I can’t figure out why my wife won’t experiment with me in bed. I tell her about how sex can add that much needed spark in our marriage but she refuses to try my suggestions. I’m bored with the same routine and maybe it’s time for me to find a more willing and open-minded partner.”

Sex is a beautiful thing, and couples must make it a priority to make sex a dominant part of their married life. It’s certainly healthy and can make husband and wife feel closer to one another. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sharing one’s sexual fantasies – if they help rekindle the old flame, why not act out those fantasies?

Fantasies are a therapy for boredom, especially when these fantasies are shared by two intimate people. While husband and wife should try to develop mutual interests, they can also leave each other some breathing room to pursue their respective interests and hobbies; this way they avoid “choking” each other by constant togetherness. Couples need time apart so they can reflect on what makes them happy and on how they can preserve that marriage bliss.

Boredom in Marriage Due to External Factors
The lack of community support and social isolation also lead to boredom, especially when husband and wife do not have large families or when they leave their old neighborhood and relocate to a new city. It takes time to cultivate friendships, but boredom in marriage can be avoided if couples make it a point to get involved in their community. The recreational and leisure departments of most city governments have programs for couples, children and seniors. Reaching out to others helps ward off boredom in marriage.

Romantic Ideas For Busy Couples : A Healthier Relationship

by Britanni Shanon

No matter the rewards you get from your work, the rewards of happy, healthy, and connected relationships are greater and longer lasting. It doesn't take much to add romance to your busy life, especially when you see the results. Life is better when you love and feel loved.

For dating couples:

Invite him/her to join in on something you already do
Ask them to meet you at your regular coffee stop before work. Invite them over for a quick early morning breakfast. Meet them at the gym for a work out and let off some steam. Go grocery shopping or do your laundry together.

Lunch Date
Meet them for lunch and spend your time just enjoying each other. Your lunches can be friendly and fun, or hot and sexy. Take turns making lunch for each other. Giving and receiving has a magical way of opening up love "waves."

Talk on the phone
Between meetings or classes, on speaker phone while you're traveling or getting ready for your day, while cleaning your home or walking the dog, take few moments to chat about life, love, dreams, or anything that comes to mind with your partner.

Thinking Of You Phone Calls
My sweetie and I have been seeing each other for going on five months now and he is not particularly comfortable with being verbal about how he feels. Although we only get to see each other perhaps once a week, and that is only if he is NOT busy, he calls me three to four times a day, "just to check in", or just to say "hi." Even though sometimes it can be very hard not to be able to spend time with him on a more regular basis, I do know that he cares and most definitely thinks about me during his days.

For cohabitating and married couples:

Love notes.

Take a second to write a quick, "I love you" on a post it, on the mirror, or in an email. Everyone has enough time to write those three little words that mean so much.

Daily Loving
Sometimes life gets too busy for all of us! It is however very important to let your partner know you love them. Even though they already know you have to always reinforce it! When I make my partner breakfast and have to rush off to work I leave a note that tells him to have a good day and that I'm looking forward to seeing him that night. Sometimes I send him a love quote during the day to let him know that I'm thinking about him. These small actions make a big difference in the lives of busy people like us who forget to slow down sometimes!
--submitted by Trissie

Hot E-Mail/Text Messages
Start out early in the day sending your honey a loving, hot e-mail or text message while they are at work. Send hot e-mails back and forth all day then meet for a romantic candlelit dinner.
--submitted by Mike

Massage
Take a minute to grab a hold of your lover and massage them. Grab a foot while they are working on the notes for their early morning presentation. Rub their shoulders for a minute while they are doing the dishes. Hold off lying your head down for a few so that you can massage your lover.

Gifts
Expensive gifts, cheap gifts, homemade gifts, or treasured heirlooms; simple gifts, extravagant gifts, sexy gifts, or silly gifts, everyone loves to receive gifts. Gift giving is a timeless way to romance your love. Every time they see the gift you gave, they will be reminded of the day you gave it to them. Bring a gift home to your love, have it delivered to their work, or stop by in the middle of the day and bring it to them.

Plan an "Us Day" or weekend
Set a date and go for it. Go how ever far away you need to leave your worries behind and have some fun. Plan it together so that you both get what you need and want from your time together away from your stressors.

A Little Escape
My boyfriend had been really stressed, and it seemed like everything I did or said only made things worse. We even had "the world's dumbest argument" so, I sent him an email and told him, "Let me help you escape your problems; give me 5 ways I can make this weekend relaxing. There is only one rule, absolutely no worrying or stressing!" We had the best time spending the weekend "escaping"!

For couples with children:

Family time romance

If it's not an issue of working too much or living apart, but it's because you never get a chance to be alone, make the most of your time as a family. A family is more than the parents' relationship with the children. It's also the relationship between the parents. Model for your children how love should be. Kiss, hold hands, and do little things that show your lover that they are in fact, your lover.

Make sex a priority
When the thought enters your mind, but you disregard it because you have things to do, rewind. Do it anyway. Choose lovemaking over chores. Tell your lover that you have a time limit, but that you want a little action. Don't take no for an answer, find a quiet room in the house, and do it. Making the decision to prioritize lovemaking is making the decision to show love to your partner. Note: a proven outcome of sex is stress relief!

Date night
Sit down together with a calendar and absolutely commit to a regular date night. Or, surprise your lover with a date night. There are a lot of groups that support date night. Some groups and organizations support date nights by offering child care for that specific reason. Also, parents can trade child care with another couple. This might help you keep your commitment to date night.

After Work Limo Ride
My wife had been working long hours of overtime for several days. She was never sure what time she would be able to leave the office and we weren't spending as much time together as we usually do. I decided on the spur of the moment to pick her up in a Limo and to spend the night paying attention to each other & just enjoying doing whatever we wanted with no interruptions from our kids, work, friends etc. I called a Limo co., walked across the street to a local florist, picked up flowers, and stopped at a local tavern to make sure that her favorite beer would be in the Limo (the bar owner thought it was so romantic she contributed a bottle of champagne). I called my wife at work and told her I would pick her up so she wouldn't have to take a bus home. I changed into dress clothes and was waiting for her at the side entrance to her building. The look on her face when I put the window down and called her name made it all worthwhile. We had a great time, that was about 3 years ago but I can't wait to do it again.

10 Commandments of Valentines Day

I just found this article few a hours ago and just wanted to share to you guys since it's only 2 days to go for Valentines Day - The ten commandments of Valentine's Day. Surprise? Well don't be it's as easy as eating ice cream.

Here they are: Thou shalt:

1: Look your best. Honestly, what does it takes to put on a decent shirt, shave and get a decent haircut? If you've been dating a while, that stuff has a tendency to slip, FIX IT! FYI: Lemondrop suggests some pretty dramatic things she can do to her lady region, so you can get rid of that unibrow.

2: Bring a gift. For dog, dog, dog's sake, bring a gift. Be creative guys! She'll appreciate the sentiment. Bonus points if it's homemade. Don't go crazy, you may have to top this. Em & Lo have a wide range of suggestions of stuff she can get you, don't show up empty-handed. Candy is totally optional.

3: Have a dinner planned. You don't have to go to the Four Seasons and eat caviar (in this economy, that would be crazy). But have plans, either a reservation somewhere you've never been or dinner at the homestead. Bonus points for showing that you do listen to her, as always. A few dinner ideas from iVillage.

4: Pack flower power. They're dead, they're pricey and this time of year really lets florists gouge you. Not important, women really dig flowers. Here's an explanation.. Also, sending them to her workplace is a slick deal because her coworkers will be quite jealous. That's the ticket, guys.

5: Wine 'em up. A little wine goes a long, long way with most gals. There's something more romantic about a nice cabernet than a sixer of Bud tallboys (go figure). And these days ferment grape juice is pretty affordable.

6: Pick a card, any card. Hallmark has taken you hostage, no doubt. But you still should bring a card, seriously. You can even make your own at home (I'm partial to preschool-style glitter and macaroni monstrosities). Par for the course, extra points are given for humor (tasteful is appreciated).

7: Keep it in your pants, lover boy. I mean that semi-literally, while there is something in the air in and around February 14th, it's not a carte blanche invitation to expose yourself to someone you've been sweating. One of our panelists on That's What He Said found out about that little wrinkle the hard way.

8: Make it intimate, keep it sexy. Not to contradict the above, but feel free to crank up the romance, dude. Ladies (especially after item 5: Wine) appreciate the sensual. This is not a go-ahead to morph into Leon Phelps (The Ladies Man), but try out some candles or scented oils with your full-time lady. Shine suggests a bath for two. That is intimate.

9: Remember it's just one night. For realsies, it's one night; don't make other plans. Full, undivided attention is a commodity more valuable than light, sweet crude oil in the '09er; give it up. And don't be a dadgum baby about the whole thing. Dragging ass or pouting won't make you enjoy it more. If an issue comes up, agree to disagree (I, generally, don't agree to that).

10: Bring the tunes. I've always thought "Sexual Healing" and "Let's Get It On" (the whole Marvin Gaye seduction catalogue, it appears) to be a slightly cheeser. But to each his/ her own (AKA know thy lay). Crank the Seal up to a comfortable listening level and get a little bit crazy. Big bonus points for sentimentality.* Paste sort of endorses the new Ryan Adams album ("Anything For Love" is sadly missing).

Goodluck and Happy Valentines Day to all!

Don't Ignore the Signs: How Emotional Infidelity Can Ruin Your Relationship

2:28 PM by Lilian · 3 comments
Labels:
Emotional infidelity can start with a simple hi or a wink. It begins in a boardroom or a chatroom. One spouse says, "What's the problem? We're only friends."

The other spouse can't believe the reassurances. So the jealousy builds and a wedge is driven between partners. Sometimes nothing really is going on, and sometimes an affair is in progress. It's only a matter of time.

So how can you tell if your spouse is a potential cheater? How can you stop a relationship from becoming romantic outside of your marriage? Here are five topics to think about before determining if your marriage is in the danger zone.

1. Secrecy: Do you feel as though your partner could be telling you more about his or her new friend? Or do you hide the details of your platonic relationship from your spouse? If so, why? It's best not to keep secrets from your partner, even if you think he or she will be hurt, angry or jealous. If you want a successful relationship, trust and honesty is the one factor for marriage that should not be compromised.

2. Displaced Trust: Is information that should only be shared between husband and a wife, shared outside of the relationship? Topics like sexual intimacy, irreconcilable differences, personal finances, and detailed accounts of your partner's shortcomings are best left within the constructs of your marriage relationship.

3. Comparing: Does your spouse compare you to friend(s) of the opposite sex often? Or do YOU feel as though your spouse could improve in the areas that your special friend excels? Comparing once or twice may not be a problem, but habitual comparison is a warning sign.

4. Time Management: What type of time do you spend together as a married couple? Is it mainly dutiful, like paying bills or going to conferences for the kids? Or do you actually date-- one-on-one, no kids, family or friends around? If not, and you find yourself, or your partner, engaged in date like activities outside of your relationship, stop it. Either invite your spouse or don't do it anymore. Coffee talk can turn to pillow talk in the blink of an eye.

5. Attraction: Do you feel as though your spouse like the way his/her special friend looks? Are you attracted to the way your friend looks or the way he/she does something? If so, address this issue with your partner and then try to refocus your attention on each other, rather than the outside party.

If three to five of these topics need to be addressed in your marriage, I urge you to get professional help either from your religious leader or from a professional counselor.

5 Tips For Successful Relationships!

2:19 PM by Lilian · 1 comments
Labels:
"Love conquers all, right?" Well----it's suppose to. But most marriages will end in divorce. Most of their problems are about the children, money, or in-laws. When couples commit to a long relationship, there are specific personality traits they should have in common.

1. Similar physical texture (thick skinned/thin skinned)
2. Similar emotional stability
3. Similar degree of tolerance
4. Similar intelligence/understanding of situations
5. Similar Interests

Without these five traits, the couple live on difference planes, different worlds. They are inclined to drift apart.

Couples grow by adjusting to their differences, but some times, the amount of the difference may be too much.

Love provides the reason for being willing to adjust to the other person's difference from yours.

A frequent question is; "How do I know it's real love?" The answer may be that when you are enjoying something special - ex: a movie, a sunset, flower, song, and you long to have your partner to share it with. The degree of longing will determine how much in love you are.

Growth in a relationship should come from; doing things together, allowing things to happen, accepting them as is, and changing what you can. It involves sharing and caring.

Couples usually don't mind working at their relationship as long as they have a closeness to each other. They don't want divorce, they want understanding. Divorce is usually a rebellion at not being able to get through to each other. The couple are still in love, that's why it hurts so much to part.

There is a story of a couple who had been engaged for seven years. The young lady didn't have the courage to commit. They had their personalities profiled and learned to adjust to each other's personalities. They understood each other as individuals and their relationship flourished.

Sexual Attraction - Addiction or Intimacy?

5:06 PM by Lilian · 0 comments
Labels:
Megan asked the following questions in one of our phone sessions: "Over and over, when I'm really attracted to a man and I sleep with him fairly early in the relationship, I discover that he is not good husband material. What am I doing wrong? Am I just attracted to the wrong kind of men?"

This is a frequent question from my single women clients.

"Megan, many men know how to project sexual energy in a way that arouses women. These men define their worth by their sexuality and by their ability to attract woman. They know just how to sexually ignite a woman - it's an energy that they are putting out that goes right into your genitals and makes you think that something real and important is happening. But they are operating from a sexual addiction rather than from caring or intimacy."

"So what should I be doing when I feel that powerful sexual attraction?"

"You need to be telling yourself that this feeling doesn't mean anything that it's just an energy that is being projected onto you but has nothing to do with love, intimacy, caring, or marriage. Real, long-lasting relationships take time to evolve. If you feel sexual upon first meeting someone, there is a good possibility that this man just wants a sexual encounter with you rather than a real relationship with you. My suggestion to you is to not have sex early in a relationship, even if you are very attracted."

"Well, when do you have sex?"

"When you feel emotionally intimate. When you trust each other and really care about each other's wellbeing. When you know that the feelings are not just sexual, and that the sexuality is coming from the emotional intimacy rather than from a sexual addiction. Why not wait until there is a commitment to the relationship and to learning and growing with each other? How often have you slept with a man that you were really attracted to and then had the relationship not work out?"

"More often than I'm willing to admit. This is what keeps happening. So are you saying that I should also go out with men that I'm not immediately attracted to?"

"Yes, if you like them. Often, sexual attraction grows as you really get to know a person. Many of my clients with the best relationships are people who were not immediately attracted to each other. The attraction grew as they fell in love with each other. Others, who were attracted immediately, lost their attraction as they got to know the person.

"Many men can have sex and then just move on without any inner turmoil. Yet many women feel connected to a man when they have sex with him and then feel awful when the relationship doesn't work out. It is unloving to yourself to sleep with a man early in the relationship and then run the risk of being dumped because all he wanted was sex.

"Another factor is that sex without emotional intimacy is often disappointing for both people. When you have sex too early in a relationship, it might not be emotionally or physically satisfying. When sex is not an expression of love, it often feels empty, and then the guy might decide that you are not the right person for him because there were no fireworks. Yet if you had waited for love to develop, it might have been wonderful. You really have nothing to lose by waiting."

"But," replied Megan, "I always think that a man won't like me if I don't have sex with him."

"Well, if you doesn't like you for not having sex with him, what does this tell you about him?"

"I guess it tells me that he is not good husband material."
"Right! So you have nothing to lose by not having sex right away."

"Okay, I see that now. I see that what I've been doing is never going to lead to marriage. I'm going to put sex on the back burner and pay more attention to caring and intimacy."

Megan completely changed her pattern with men and within a year she was engaged to be married.

12 Steps on How To Keep The Relationship Alive

3:20 PM by Lilian · 5 comments
Labels:
Do you feel your relationship is not what it used to be? The initial magic and the same spirit is lacking or gone? Start re-evaluating your relationship before its too late. Here are the 12 steps below i gathered to help me and you keeping our relationship alive and kicking.

1. Have a date night- Married or not you both have lives outside of the relationship and making one day a week all about you and your sweetie will make it even more special. As they say, "absences makes the heart grow fonder" A bonus will also be how much fun you have with one another.

2. Write a love letter- let your girlfriend or boyfriend know how much you love them. It does not have to 4 pages long and it can even be a poem. Just let them know once in a while that they are someone truly special in your life.

3. Good sex- Sex is not important especially if you are just starting out but it does help. Being in touch with one another's feelings in the bedroom can go a long way. Use scented candles or soothing music to get the mood started. When you are having sex don't make it about yourself getting satisfied but about the both of you getting an orgasm.

4. Fight-Yes that's right have an argument. I believe nothing is more boring than a couple who says they never fight. That is just an out right lie. Every couple argues and there is no shame in it. It only becomes unhealthy when names called and fists are being thrown. Those things are never acceptable. Fights help you find out how the other feels about certain topics like family and boundaries.

5. Respect- Without respect there is no relationship. Everyone no mater who they are or what they have done deserves respect. To be treated as an equal and nothing less.

6. Have common interest- this is not a major thing but it does help in a relationship to have something that both of you are interested in like, biking and writing. To also have a common interest in making the relationship last.

7. Open Communication- it is almost like fighting but different. Communication needs to be an everyday occurrence for the relationship to last. You both need to know how the other one is feeling and what is going on in the relationship. To keep the other informed that you are indeed happy and that there is no reason for them to fear that you will stray.

8. Loyalty and Faithfulness-I do not care what any one says this is needed for a relationship to work. Everyone deserves to have someone who is there for them and only them. It's only moral and in today's world the healthy thing to do. I have heard the arguments that animals have more than one partner but last time I checked I walked on two legs and not four. I don't have a feathers and wings. I do talk coherently with words and sentences. A relationship that is meant to be will be easy for you to stay faithful and no need to go to another person. Put your heart and soul into the relationship if by chance it doesn't work, you can't say you didn't try.

9. Know when to forgive- that hey may come a time that you will have to decide when to forgive. If by chance your love one does go to another, you need to re-evaluate what you cared most about them. Or maybe they talked to an ex more times than necessary. You have to decide can you forgive and move on or do you have to let them go. If you do decide to forgive as hard as it may be you have to keep it in the past. Let them show you that they are truly sorry.

10. Call each other- If you are just starting out or you have been dating awhile call the other one to find out how they day went. This shows that you are interested in what happens to them when you are away. It also shows how much you missed being with them and hearing their voice. You maybe surprised at how long the conversation last just by saying I miss you or how you doing today?

11. Take it slow- Don't rush into anything you might regret later. Take the time to know each other. Let it flow naturally just by taking it one day at a time. Especially with sex, take your time before going to bed with the person; it just might save a whole lot of drama that the relationship is not ready to handle.

12. Last but not least TRUST! - Without trust there is no relationship. Do not assume the worst of your partner. Let the relationship take its course. Only be untrusting when it is warranted.

There are more ways to keep relationship alive but these are the basics that we often neglected.

To Be Loved As To Love

Ernie Larson, author of "Stage II Recovery" and other works, uses a wonderful metaphor for relationships. If you picture yourself as a telephone pole, he says, and the other person as a telephone pole, you can see your relationship as the line strung between you. You can't hold up both ends by yourself.

I tell you that, because I want to tell you this: There's a lot of wonderful relationship advice to be found in spiritual writings and teachings. But if you try to use it on another person, hoping against hope that s/he will pick up the other end of the telephone line, it won't work.

If you are trying to relate to someone who hits you, cheats on you, ignores you until they want sex, or otherwise uses you in any way, then you are not in a relationship with that person. This relationship advice article does not apply to the two of you. What you have is a trauma bond, and I trust you to seek professional help, if that's what it takes, to extricate yourself.

For those connections with others that can honestly be called relationships, I have gathered some powerful relationship advice in my years of study and practice in conscious spiritual living.

The first thing to know is that there is unlimited love for you in this universe. You'll receive it as soon as you're willing to, and as soon as you quit dictating where you think it should come from and how it should be delivered. Be present to your life, and you'll see love showing up in the most unexpected places.

The second principle of relationship advice is that a relationship cannot be a closed system of two. If it is, it won't be a relationship for long. There needs to be space in any relationship for other friends, family, as well as room for Spirit to work in you and your loved one. Your primary relationship must be with your own concept of Spirit. All other relationships will fall into place.

The last thing I want to offer you will improve your communication skills. It's a copy of the Peace Prayer of St. Francis. No one really knows who wrote it, but this centuries old poem is packed with relationship advice.

Make me an instrument of Thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine!
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born into eternal life.

Practice the principles of this prayer in all of your relationships, and you'll find that your life full of the kind of relationships you really want.
